Grading results

I am proud to say that this was grading was the most successful to date. Whether it was due to the commitment of our members, the additional preparation time, or the extra focus on grading syllabus is unclear. What is clear is that everyone passed their tests! Congratulations to all the new belt holders – and remember that ‘with great power comes great responsibility’. Thanks Spiderman!!

Japanese Cultural Day

The Burnside Library invited us to participate in their annual Japanese Cultural Day on Saturday 11 July. This was a great opportunity for students to demonstrate their skills in preparation for the AsiaFest festival later in the year.

Thank you to everyone who took part. Initially it looked like we were going to be very short on numbers, but fortunately we ended up with just the right amount and wowed the crowd with kata, tegumi, Jujutsu and Kudo. We capped it off with a chocolate treat at Bracegirdles.

AsiaFest

We have again been invited to participate at AsiaFest, Adelaide’s newest and longest running Asian festival! On the basis of our discussions, they are considering a full-time martial arts venue in the Japan section both weekends. This will be a great opportunity for us to do some serious training over both weekends – consider it to be a training camp inside a festival! Also, we are investigating the possibility of holding a Kudo competition over one of the days. Watch this space!
